My Profile

The My profile features allow everyone to display information about themselves to others within the course. It also provides miscellaneous options for the course in general.

Using My Profile


Editing profile

  1. On the top right of the page, click on your name.

  2. Click on the Edit profile link.

  3. Click the Expand all link to view all setting boxes

  5. Customize the PolyLearn site as desired with the following options:
    • Email display determines who sees your email address, if at all.
    • Email digest type chooses how much information about a new forum post is delivered in an email.
    • Description is a description about the instructor that can be viewed in the profile by all.
    • New picture allows uploading of a personal image (100 x 100 pixels).

    • Picture description outlines what the picture represents.
    • Additional names: phonetic (first, last, middle) and alternate (preferred) name.
    • List of interests displays personal qualities/interests.
    • Note: Each of these interests creates a "tag", and clicking on these when viewing the profile directs the user to a page that lists everyone in the course that have the same tagged interest.
    • Web page is for entering a personal webpage URL.
    • Skype ID, AIM ID, Yahoo ID, MSN ID are for instant messaging IDs in order to allow you to list your screen names for various IM clients.
    • Institution & Department identify your school and college department (respectively).
    • Phone, Mobile phone, Address provides various contact information to allow others in the class to contact you.
  6. Click on the Update profile button to save your profile.

Editing Preferred Text Editor

  1. On the top right of the page, click on your name.

  3. On the top right, choose Preferences in the breadcrumbs.
  4. Click on the Editor preference link.
  5. Choose the text editor - "TinyMCE" was the HTML editor before.
  6. Scroll to the bottom and Save changes.

Editing Preferred Language

  1. On the top right of the page, click on your name.

  3. On the top right, choose Preferences in the breadcrumbs.
  4. Click on the Preferred language link.
  5. Choose the language.
  6. Scroll to the bottom and Save changes.

 


Editing Forum Preferences

  1. On the top right of the page, click on your name.

  3. On the top right, choose Preferences in the breadcrumbs.
  4. Click on the Forum preference link.
  5. Choose Yes: highlight new posts for me in the Forum tracking pull-down list.
  6. Scroll to the bottom and Save changes.
